There were mixed emotions at Cambrian Lodge on Day 11 of the egg hatching journey, as residents enjoyed one last play session with the ducklings before they set off for their new home in Bodmin, Cornwall.
The ducklings spent their final day doing what they do best — splashing, exploring and keeping everyone entertained. Photographs from the day show them happily cleaning themselves and playing in their water tray, while residents watched on and enjoyed the last opportunity to see them up close. Other images capture quieter moments too, with the ducklings huddled together drying off and sleeping, and exploring a soft play area while a resident looks on.
As the day went on, the ducklings were settled back into their cage, with one photograph showing them outside in the sunshine before their journey. The final image, showing the ducklings being loaded into the back of a van, marked the end of a very special experience for the home.
While everyone was sad to see them go, there was also a strong sense of gratitude for the joy they brought over the course of the hatching project. Following their progress day by day gave residents something engaging and uplifting to share, while the chance to watch, talk about and interact with the ducklings brought plenty of smiles along the way.
Cambrian Lodge feels very blessed to have had this wonderful opportunity, and the ducklings will certainly be remembered with great affection.
