Residents at Cambrian Lodge have been getting creative in preparation for their upcoming Mad Hatter’s tea party, making colourful Alice in Wonderland-themed bunting to help decorate the home.
Using a selection of pictures from the story, residents carefully cut out their chosen images and arranged them onto cardboard triangles before gluing them into place. The designs included familiar characters and scenes from the book, with photographs showing residents adding pictures of the White Rabbit, Alice, the Mad Hatter and a red and white rose bush to their bunting.
The activity gave everyone the chance to enjoy some focused, hands-on creativity. Images capture residents using brushes to spread glue, carefully sticking each picture into position and taking pride in the details of their work. Once completed, the decorated triangles were threaded onto ribbon and prepared to be hung up as part of the tea party decorations.
There was also a lovely sense of achievement at the end of the session, with several residents proudly holding up their finished pieces for the camera. These creative activities can be a wonderful way to encourage concentration, self-expression and conversation, while also helping residents feel involved in preparing for a shared event.
At Cambrian Lodge, the bunting session was a cheerful and productive part of the build-up to the Mad Hatter’s tea party, and the finished decorations are sure to add plenty of character to the celebration.
